Performance and Use of Magnesia Brick

Refractoriness of magnesia brick is above 2000 ℃, the general load softening  starting temperature of magnesia brick is at 1520 ~ 1600 ℃, while load softening starting temperature of high purity magnesia brick can reach up to 1800 ℃.
The difference between load softening start temperature of magnesia brick with the collapse temperature is not large. In the ordinary magnesia brick, as the conjugate is generally calcium forsterite and magnesium rose pyroxene and other low melting point of the silicate phase, although magnesia brick periclase grain melting point is higher, but there is existing about 1500 ℃ melting of the silicate phase, and its liquid phase viscosity under high temperature is very small, therefore, reflects  the difference of deformation temperature of ordinary magnesia brick and the collapse temperature is not large, but has the larger difference with the refractoriness. The load softening start temperature of high-purity magnesia brick can reach up to 1800 ℃, mainly because the combination between periclase grains is forsterite or dicalcium silicate, and the melting temperature of eutectic mixture formed is high,  lattice strength between the crystals is large and plastic deformation is small under high temperature, combination of crystal particles is good.

The linear expansion rate of magnesia brick under  the 1000 ~ 1600 ℃ is generally 1.0% to 2.0%, and approximate or linear, in the refractory products, the thermal conductivity of magnesia brick is next to carbon brick, it reduces with temperature increasing. Under the condition of water temperature of 1100 ℃, the number of thermal shock of magnesia brick is only 1 ~ 2 times. Magnesia brick has strong resistance to CaO and ferrite alkaline slag, but is weak to resistance to acid slag containing SiO2,etc.
Therefore, when using, can not direct contact with silica brick, generally separated by a neutral brick. At room temperature, the conductivity of magnesia brick is very low, but at high temperature, its conductivity will not be overlooked. The performance of magnesia brick, due to the difference of use of raw materials, production equipment, process measures, and so there is a big difference.

Due to high temperature performance, alkali resistance slag strong, magnesia brick is widely used the steel-making furnace lining in the steel industry, iron alloy furnace, mixed iron furnace, nonferrous metallurgical industrial furnace, building materials, lime kiln, glass industry heat exchanger, refractory industry high-temperature calcination kiln and tunnel kiln and so on.
